Holiday Decorations At Hampton
The mansion will be closed to the public on December 3, 2012, so the staff can decorate it for the holidays. The grounds and farm site will remain open. Regularly scheduled tours of the mansion will resume on December 4, 2012.
On The Hampton Plantation: Overseer's House, Slave Quarters & Farm Tour
The July 7th farm site tour has been rescheduled to July 28th. Consult "Schedule of Events" for more information.

Overseer's House and Dovecote Restrooms Temporarily Closed
Park Closure
Due to power outages related to building maintenance, the Overseer's House (Farmhouse) and the restrooms inside the dovecote are currently closed. The Quarters of the Enslaved, dairy and grounds are open. The mansion side of the park is unaffected.
Mother's Day Carriage Rides CANCELLED
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Mother's Day carriage rides have been cancelled. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Storm Issues - Electricity and Phones
The first floor of the mansion will remain open for tours. The second floor will be closed to the public. Phones are not working.
CARRIAGE RIDES CANCELLED
Due to the inclement weather and in the best interest of the horses, carriage rides have been cancelled this weekend.

The Gardens at Hampton
The Hampton gardens are in bloom. Come see and stroll through the historic gardens from 8:30 am to 5 pm daily.
Rescheduled: "Harriet Tubman Visits Hampton"
Information
Due to a death in the family, "Harriet Tubman Visits Hampton" has been rescheduled to September 17th. The "On The Plantation Tour" will be offered in its place on Sunday, February 21st at 2 pm. Don't let the cold stop you, the overseer's house is heated.
Vistior Contact Station Update-Construction Advisory
Phase III will continue as designed and this is the longest phase of the project. The Entrance Road and Parking Area will be defined. PARKING IS VERY LIMITED AND BUSES ARE PROHIBITED FROM THE MANSION'S PARKING LOT AND PARKING ANYWHERE ON THE SITE.
The African American Experience Tour at Hampton-Postponed
The African American Experience Tour on June 24th has been canceled. Please join us on July 8th for "Walk a Mile, Walk a Minute in the Footsteps of the Enslaved on the Hampton Plantation" at 1 pm.

The grounds of Hampton National Historic Site are open to visit for pedestrians but be advised that the upper parking lot and all buildings will be closed for the holiday on January 1, 2026. Hampton will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026.

New Winter Hours
The mansion and farm site buildings at Hampton National Historic Site will be closed from January 4 until February 12. NO TOURS WILL BE CONDUCTED. Visitors will be invited to take a self-guided winter walk on the grounds to explore the historic landscape
Manly Arts Day, September 16, 2012, 10 am - 4 pm
This is a hands-on program giving visitors the opportunity to learn swordsmanship, basic fist-fighting techniques, "swing" into action with stick fighting and engage in safe demonstrations with professional instructors.

June 2nd Sunday Program is on June 23rd
There will not be a 2nd Sunday program in June. Come join us for family fun on June 23rd for "Dairy Day" from 1 pm to 4 pm on the farm. On June 24th, it is the African American Experience at Hampton tour from 2 pm to 3:30 pm.

Ridgley Family Cemetery Temporary Closure

The Ridgley Family Cemetery is currently closed due to headstone damage caused by recent storms. To prevent further damage and any possible risks to visitors, the cemetery will remain closed until the monument can be stabilized.

We do not mail Junior Ranger books; please download from site. Completed books may be submitted digitally. Junior Ranger badges may be mailed once per person per calendar year after completion. We do not mail completed books back.
